Gold falls from the sky in Russia

Last week, a cargo plane of Kosmos Airlines had technical problems taking off, and part of the freight was scattered on the runway of the Yakutsk airport. We are talking about a few tons of gold bullion.

On March 16, 2018, 3.4 tons of gold were scattered on the runway of Yakutsk airport and its surroundings. The cargo fell from an Antonov An-12BP plane of Kosmos Airlines. The aircraft was to carry 9 tons of gold on the Yakutsk - Krasnoyarsk route.

According to the Siberian Times, the goods were not properly anchored and moved in the take-off process. The cargo door of the aircraft broke and the gold bars began to fall from the plane. They were scattered over 26 kilometers, near Magan. 172 of ingots were recovered, each weighing 20 kilograms.

Gold belongs to Chukota Mining and Geological (75% of shares being owned by Kinross Gold Canadians). The merchandise was valued at 350 million EURO.
