This year, the start of the winter season will be spectacular. Under the hashtag #winterlove or #frompassionfortheirth, Österreich Werbung organizes with its local partners the largest international campaign, worth 10 million euros.

"This is the first time we are working with state-level tourism organizations to send a common, clear and comprehensive message: we want to rekindle tourists' love for the cold season and spread the hospitality with which hotel and guesthouse owners await them.", explained Lisa Weddig, director of ÖW.

More than 400 ski regions and 7.500 kilometers of slopes await the start of the season in Austria. "We want to reach with our message and new target groups with the varied offer of tourist products from Austria."

Austria brings to the fore the wide range of winter activities

Skiing, snowboarding and freeriding are by far the most popular winter activities, and Austria is still an undisputed leader in this field, with a market share of over 50%. But winter has long been more than just winter sports for tourists.

The season has become a favorable one for relaxing holidays, for winter holidays in the snow, in nature or in cities. "Guests want to walk, enjoy Austrian cuisine, admire tourist attractions, go to Christmas fairs or simply relax in the thermal baths", Weddig declares. "Whether we are talking about a winter holiday with friends or family: Austria comes up with a proposal for any wish."
