Austrian Airlines sells Fokker aircraft fleet

Austrian Airlines signed a contract with Alliance Aviation Services Limited, Australia, to: sells 21 fleet of Fokker aircraft (15 Fokker 100 and 6 Fokker 70). The price is set at 15 million dollars. The transaction will have a cash component and an equity component in Alliance.

Austrian Airlines will phase out the use of Fokker aircraft and deliver them to Alliance Aviation Services Limited between December 2015 and December 2017. Simultaneously, Fokker aircraft will be replaced with aircraft. Embraer 195, starting with January 2016. This replacement will allow Austrian Airlines to take pride in a younger fleet. Embraer aircraft have an average age of 4 years, while the Fokker aircraft fleet has an average age of 21 years.

Alliance Aviatio currently owns an all Fokker fleet (15 Fokker 100 aircraft and 8 Fokker 70 aircraft), being declared the world's largest operator of these aircraft types. Their service is provided at Austrian Technik Bratislava.
