Italian authorities take additional restrictive measures to limit Sars-Cov-2 virus infection

Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte has signed a new decree containing new measures to deal with the epidemiological emergency of Covid-19. The Italian authorities have taken additional restrictive measures to limit Sars-Cov-2 virus infection, which will apply from 26 October until 24 November 2020.

Additional restrictive measures taken in Italy

It is strongly recommended that all individuals avoid travel, by public or private means of transport, except for work, education, health reasons, situations of need or to have access to services that have not been suspended.

Activities are suspended in fitness rooms, swimming pools, spas. Amateur sports competitions and contests are not allowed. Performances with the public in theaters, concert halls and cinemas are suspended, including those in the open air.

Activities in bars, pubs, restaurants, confectioneries, etc. are allowed between 05.00-18.00. Meal consumption is allowed for a maximum of 4 people, unless they all live together. After 18.00 it is forbidden to consume food and drinks in public spaces and open to the public.

The activity of high school education is carried out in a proportion of at least 75% online. It is strongly recommended to avoid receiving other people in private homes, except in situations of necessity, urgency or work.

Indoor and outdoor parties are prohibited, including those related to the celebration of civil or religious ceremonies.

The following measures remain in force in Italy

It is mandatory to wear the mask outdoors in the presence of other people throughout Italy. Wearing a mask is also mandatory in all enclosed spaces, except private homes.

It is recommended to use masks in private homes, if people who do not live together are present.

The following categories are exempted from the obligation to wear a protective mask:

  • people who carry out sports activities, children up to 6 years old
  • people with pathologies and disabilities incompatible with the use of the mask
  • those who through the interaction with the aforementioned people find themselves in the same situation of incompatibility.

It is mandatory to keep a safe distance of at least one meter between people. Meetings between persons are prohibited, both indoors and outdoors.
