Belgrade - New York with Air Serbia, since June 2016

After 2 years after the transaction as a result Etihad Airways bought 49% from Jat Airways (launch Air Serbia), the national company of Serbia announced the intention to open the route Belgrade - New York (JFK). After a break of 24 years, this will be the first long-haul direct route between Serbia and the United States. 5 will operate weekly flights starting June 2016.

A recent survey by Belgrade authorities shows that there are over 200 000 of Serbs in the United States, most in the New York and Chicago areas. By launching the route, the links of trade between the 2 countries will also be strengthened. At the same time, Belgrade airport can become an important hub in the Balkans.

For long-haul flights, Air Serbia will rent one Airbus A330-200 configured in 2 classes, most likely from Etihad Airways. At the same time, it analyzes the leasing offers.

Air Serbia was born in October 2013 and is the national company of Serbia. At the moment, The Air Serbia fleet consists of 14 jet aircraft single-aisle (8 Airbus A319-100, 2 Airbus A320-200 and 4 Boeing 737-300 aircraft) and 6 ATR 72 / -200, -500 turboprop aircraft. It has 10 A320neo units to order.

It operates flights to 39 destinations in Europe and the Middle East, with its main base at Belgrade's Nikola Tesla International Airport. In the winter season 2015/2016, Air Serbia operates 7 weekly flights on Belgrade to Bucharest.
