The Berlin-Brandenburg Superior Aviation Authority (Gemeinsame Obere Luftfahrtbehörde Berlin-Brandenburg, LuBB) has handed over to Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH (FBB) the operating license and permission to start operations at Berlin Brandenburg Willy Brandt Airport (BER). Both documents are required to operate a commercial airport in Germany and are therefore essential documents for the opening of the BER.

We were able to demonstrate that all airport facilities and equipment installed are in accordance with the requirements and are working properly. After receiving permission from the authorities to use Terminal 1, we now have the final confirmations required to be able to use the airport in accordance with all German rules and regulations. There is nothing to stand in the way of the opening of the BER on 31 October 2020. "
Since July 2020, Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH (FBB) has successfully tested BER with 9.000 volunteers as part of the internationally established and demonstrated ORAT program. The training program will continue until October 15, 2020, in order to continue completing the procedures.
The commissioning of the new Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) will take place with the opening of BER Terminal 1 on 31 October 2020. On this day, an easyJet aircraft and a Lufthansa aircraft will land in parallel and will be the first aircraft to operate flights to / from BER.
On the morning of November 4, FBB will begin operations on the southern runway with the landing of a Qatar Airways aircraft. The BER's new night flight restrictions will also apply from this date. The transfer from Tegel Airport to Berlin Brandenburg will be complete with the last flight operated by Air France, from Berlin-Tegel to Paris, on November 8, 2020.
