Blue Air cancels hundreds of flights between January and February 2022

The beginning of the year 2022 will come with hundreds of canceled flights from / to Romania and with many routes suspended between January and February 2022. Wizz Air, RYANAIR, Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines, among the companies that announced the taking of these measures.

It is known that every year, the winter season is poorer in flights and routes because the demand is lower than the summer season. New travel rules and restrictive measures have led to an accelerated decline in demand for flights, forcing airlines to adjust their flight schedule more than expected.

Lufthansa Group will cancel up to 33 flights, while RYANAIR has announced that it will cancel 1/3 of its flights scheduled for January and February. Wizz Air has canceled over 100 European routes, also affecting the operational program in Romania.

Blue Air, the low-cost carrier in Romania, has already operated changes to the flight schedule in January and February 2022, which has led to the cancellation of hundreds of flights and the suspension of dozens of routes.

From Bucharest, Blue Air has temporarily suspended routes:

  • Bucharest - Athens (January 8 - March 3)
  • Bucharest - Barcelona (January 17 - February 3)
  • Bucharest - Birmingham (January 7 - February 28)
  • Bucharest - Brussels (January 11 - February 3)
  • Bucharest - Catania (January 9 - February 28)
  • Bucharest - Copenhagen (January 6 - March 1)
  • Bucharest - Florence (January 11 - February 3)
  • Bucharest - Frankfurt (January 11 - March 1)
  • Bucharest - Hamburg (January 10 - February 28)
  • Bucharest - Helsinki (January 17 - February 2)
  • Bucharest - Cologne (January 8 - March 1)
  • Bucharest - Lisbon (January 8 - March 1)
  • Bucharest - London Luton (January 8 - February 28)
  • Bucharest - Madrid (January 12 - February 4)
  • Bucharest - Milan Linate (January 8 - February 3)
  • Bucharest - Naples (January 11 - February 3)
  • Bucharest - Nice (January 10 - February 2)
  • Bucharest - Oslo (January 10 - February 28)

From Iasi, Blue Air temporarily suspended routes:

  • Iasi - Dublin (January 17 - February 5)
  • Iasi - London Heathrow (January 10 - February 28)

From Bacău, Blue Air temporarily suspended routes:

  • Bacau - Brussels (January 8 - March 1)
  • Bacau - Milan Bergamo (January 11 - March 1)
  • Bacau - Paris BVA (January 9 - March 28)
  • Bacau - Rome FCO (January 10 - March 1)
  • Bacau - Turin (January 9 - February 28)

From Cluj, Blue Air temporarily suspended routes:

  • Cluj - Amsterdam (December 29, 2021 - March 1)
  • Cluj - Barcelona (January 5 - February 28)
  • Cluj - Madrid (January 7 - March 2)
  • Cluj - Paris CDG (January 11 - March 3)

As can be seen, some routes are temporarily suspended for 1-2-3 weeks with the possibility that the period may be extended. Other routes are suspended until the beginning of March or until the beginning of the 2022 summer season. Due to the pandemic and travel rules, the flight situation is uncertain, especially due to the lack of passengers and commercial considerations.

Book your tickets promptly and don't forget about travel insurance to be covered in case flights can't be operated.
