On 27 August 2016, around local time 09: 00, WN3472 flight operated by Southwest Airlines was diverted to Pensacola airport. The reason was quite serious. Shortly after taking off from New Orleans International Airport, Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-7H4 (WL) pilots reported the loss of the 1 engine.

The plane had 99 passengers and 5 crew members on board. Fly on the route New Orleans - Orlando. As it ascended to the FL310, approximately 26 km south of Biloxi, the intake manifold of engine 1 came off. Passengers also reported a loud explosion and the smell of smoke.
