The Boeing 737 MAX 10, the largest aircraft in the 737 MAX family, successfully completed the first flight in aviation history. The plane took off from Renton Field in Renton, Washington, at 10:07 and landed at 12:38 at Boeing Field in Seattle.
"The plane performed well," Chief Pilot Capt. Jennifer Henderson. "The route we flew allowed us to test the aircraft's systems, flight controls and handling qualities, all corresponding exactly as we expected."
Today's flight was the start of a comprehensive test program for the 737 MAX 10. Boeing will work closely with regulators to certify the aircraft before scheduled entry into service in 2023.
"The 737 MAX 10 is an important model in expanding our customers' fleets, giving them more capacity, greater fuel efficiency and the best economic / space ratio in the single-aisle aircraft market," he said. Stan Deal, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. "Our team is committed to delivering the highest quality and reliable aircraft."
The Boeing 737 MAX 10 can carry up to 230 passengers. It also incorporates environmental improvements, reducing carbon emissions by 14% and reducing noise by 50% compared to the previous generation of 737 aircraft.
According to its performance and data sheet, the Boeing 737 MAX 10 can compete at the same level with the Airbus A321neo.
