The flight AF865 of the French national airline took off on June 3, 2021, shortly before 10:00 in the morning, local time, from N'Djamena airport, in Chad, to Paris-CDG, where it landed at 16:01, local hour. After the passengers got off the plane, the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft - which had just operated the flight - was carefully inspected, but no explosive device was found on board.

As soon as the Air France plane landed, an interministerial crisis unit of the French government was set up, led by Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin, in the absence of Prime Minister Jean Castex, who was in Tunisia. An investigation was opened, with Gérald Darmanin quickly confirming on social media that it was a false alarm.
According to a source quoted by Le Point, the alert was reported to the pilots during the flight by a man who "Managed to access radio frequency and transmitted a bomb threat". A French Air Force gust escorted the Dreamliner aircraft, as is normally the case in such situations.
