British Airways announces first routes to BA EuroFlyer subsidiary at London Gatwick base
British Airways has unveiled the first destinations for the new BA EuroFlyer subsidiary at London-based Gatwaick. According to the booking schedule, the flights will start in March 2022. Tickets for 35 short and medium distance destinations have already been put on sale starting today, December 14th.
British Airways wants to develop an independent subsidiary, which will fly from London Gatwick International Airport. It will focus on short-haul flights. For the first time, the flights will be operated by British Airways until the new airline receives the air operator's certificate.
Three dedicated short and medium-haul Airbus aircraft will be allocated, and by the end of May the number of aircraft in the BA EuroFlyer fleet will reach 18 units.
During the pandemic, several routes were moved from Gatwick to Heathrow, some of which will return to Gatwick, but will continue to operate from Heathrow. Among the new routes, which will be operated from Gatwick, are: Faro, Ibiza, Malaga, Marrakech and Tenerife. In addition, other new routes will be added to London Gatwick, including Athens, Berlin, Madrid, Milan Malpensa and Santorini.
