British Airways will reactivate the fleet of A380 aircraft, the first flights being scheduled in November to destinations in the United States. For starters, British Airways A380 aircraft will fly to short and medium-haul destinations to allow crews to be accommodated, followed shortly by operations to Miami and Los Angeles in the US, as well as Dubai, in December.

British Airways has decided to resume flights with the A380 after the United States announced a relaxation of travel conditions in Europe and the United Kingdom, without quarantine for vaccinated people. The airline is scheduled to fly to 23 US airports this winter. British Airways will operate 246 flights a week, more than any other transatlantic carrier.

British Airways will increase the number of flights operated to North America, including New York. The frequency will initially increase to five per day, followed by eight daily flights in December. The airline will also operate twice-daily services to Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington, Dallas, Miami and Toronto, as well as daily services to Philadelphia, Phoenix, Seattle, Atlanta, Denver, Houston and Vancouver.

In addition to the increase in frequency, in October and November, British Airways will resume flights to Austin, Orlando, Tampa, San Diego, Las Vegas and Baltimore. In December, the airline will also start flying again to Nashville and New Orleans, which proved to be a success for customers when they first launched.

Closer to home, British Airways has increased flights to a number of short-haul destinations, adding another 13.000 seats to holiday destinations. The popular leisure destinations Marrakech and Dalaman will reappear in the flight schedule and flights to the Turkish resort of Antalya will also be launched. Given that the cold season is approaching, British Airways will resume flights to ski destinations, including Innsbruck, Grenoble and Salzburg.

Neil Chernoff, chief operating officer of British Airways, said:This is an interesting time for British Airways and our customers, as we are optimistic about the reopening of borders. With welcome news from the US, we are increasing the number of flights and reactivating some of the A380 aircraft to offer our customers as many options as possible. On other routes we add additional services to ensure that passengers can enjoy a much-needed vacation."

At the same time, British Airways will increase the number of flights throughout the year to the main European cities: 48 weekly services to Amsterdam, 33 weekly flights to Geneva, 35 to Dublin, 28 to Milan and 21 to Berlin, Paris and Rome.

The British Airways subsidiary, BA City Flyer, is to operate a program of 43 flights a week to Edinburgh, 33 to Dublin, 25 to Glasgow, 18 to Belfast, 16 to Amsterdam, 15 to Rotterdam, 15 to Berlin, 12 to Frankfurt, 12 in Dusseldorf and 11 in Zurich.

The airline will also launch a new route from Belfast to Birmingham, as well as flights to a new ski destination Salzburg, London City and Southampton.
