When it comes to major infrastructure work, we are skeptical. We are used to hearing many stories and promotions, but we see fewer and fewer completed projects. When I heard about the railway line to Otopeni Airport, I had doubts that they would be able to do something.
But work is progressing and we promise that the direct rail link from Gara de Nord to Otopeni Airport will be ready this summer.
Minister Lucian Bode together with Gheorghe Popescu, honorary adviser to the Prime Minister; Ionuț Stroe, the Minister of Youth and Sports and the Secretary of State Ionel Scrioșteanu visited today, May 6, 2020, the construction site of the Bucharest North railway line - Henri Coandă Otopeni International Airport.

Minister Lucian Bode noted the developments since the last visit and asked the entrepreneur to keep up the pace so that at the end of August 2020 this goal is completed.
Thus, in the case of this objective, there is a physical stage of the works of about 65%, given that recently a number of measures have been implemented to protect the health of workers to avoid infection with the new coronavirus.
If EURO 2020 is not delayed, Romania was certainly not ready this year with the railway connection to Otopeni Airport. But it is good that the football event has been postponed to 2021. That way, the authorities have time to complete all the necessary infrastructure works for EURO 2020.
