For a week, between December 5 and 11, Austrian Airlines promotes Vienna through the culture of Viennese coffee, in the pop upcafe "Café Vienna", opened at Beans & Dots.

Since 2011, traditional Viennese cafes have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Part of this cultural heritage is also projected in Bucharest, in the specially designed space at Beans & Dots.

Interaction with Viennese Austrian Airlines passenger coffee starts from the aircraft. Coffee is also part of the Austrian Airlines tradition.

The Austrian national operator offers business class passengers, on flights from and to Vienna, the "coffee shop over the clouds" service. With this concept, Austrian Airlines serves 10 passengers with Viennese coffee specialties.

The history of Viennese coffee

In 2018, the Austrian capital has 2.638 of cafes, according to the Vienna Chamber of Commerce. Of these, about 100 are part of UNESCO's cultural heritage.

In addition to the wide variety of coffees, pastries, as well as international newspapers, Viennese cafes are famous for marble countertops, Thonet chairs, special newspaper and chandelier stands.

In each of them tourists find a variety of flavors: Wiener Melange (black coffee with hot milk and milk foam), Franziskaner (black coffee with milk foam, whip and cocoa powder), Einspänner (Viennese specialty black coffee prepared with whiskey and powdered sugar), Maria Theresia (black coffee with orange liqueur) and Fiaker (black cognac coffee and whiskey).

These assortments, as well as others, are prepared according to their traditional recipes even by an Austrian barista, in the Café Viena@Beans&Dots pop-up in Bucharest.

Every day, coffee lovers can attend workshops held by the barista, learning how to make coffee cocktails. 

Moreover, guests have the opportunity to attend a special bar show with coffee cocktails prepared by the world champion at flair bartending Valentin Luca, a book club with a reading of Edmund Waal's work, "Amber-eyed rabbits" , or at an Aquarius concert.
