The case of the MH17 flight crashed in Ukraine: four people accused of murder

After 5 years, Dutch authorities announced that they have charged 4 persons. 3 Russians on their behalf Igor Ghirkin, Sergei Dubinsky and Oleg Pulatov and Ukrainian Leonid Harcenko.

The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) is led by the Netherlands and consists of investigators from Australia, Belgium, Malaysia, the Netherlands and Ukraine. JIT announced that the rocket, which hit the plane, was from the 53 of Russian anti-aircraft brigades in Kursk, western Russia.

The investigation concluded, in 2016, that the rocket was fired from a territory controlled by pro-Russian separatists, after being transported from Russia. And the whole investigation says that the BUK system was moved to Ukraine somewhere in 17-18 July.

There is still no clear evidence that the accused pressed the fatal button, but investigators believe that the 4 played the decisive role that led to the accident. The trial will begin in The Hague on 9 March 2020.

Obviously Russia denies the accusations. The Russian Foreign Ministry has reacted to information provided by Dutch investigators, accusing the investigators' team that the information obtained comes from "questionable sources". At the same time, Russian officials said they could not participate in the investigation, despite the desire expressed from the beginning.

It is a difficult investigation, perhaps the most complex in the event of a plane crash.
