The busiest airports in 2011 by number of passengers and air traffic

According Airports Council International (ACI), passenger traffic increased by 4.9% in 2011 compared to 2010. The preliminary report was made by gathering information from about 900 from airports around the world. According to these statistics, the number of aircraft movements also increased by 2%.

On the continents, the situation was not the same everywhere. Due to economic problems, business environments or weather conditions, the lowest increase was recorded in North America - 1.8%. At the other end are Latin America - 8.6%, the Middle East - 8.4% and Asia-Pacific - 5.6%.

The report released on 27 March 2012 also presented the busiest airports in the world regarding the number of passengers.

Airports Council International is a non-governmental organization that monitors over 580 airlines operating on 1,650 airports in 179 countries and territories.
