Taiwan's national carrier, China Airlines, will rebrand into Taiwan Airlines to better represent Taiwan. But also to get rid of the confusion that it is a Chinese airline. Taiwanese lawmakers have voted in favor of rebranding China Airlines into Taiwan Airlines.

Initiated by the Democratic Progressive Party of Taiwan, the rebranding proposal aims to strengthen China Airlines on the international market and to avoid short, medium and long-term confusion with air operators in the People's Republic of China.

In addition, the Ministry of Transport and Communications intends to strengthen the international image of the brand to be more associated with Taiwan.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Taiwan donated masks to European countries, labeling Taiwan Can Help goods, as outlined in the legislature. And this cargo was transported by China Airlines fleet. "The name China Airlines written on the aircraft created confusion in the international media, which led to the misinterpretation that the masks were delivered by China. It caused great damage to Taiwan."
