It's not just Romania where flights have been suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. All countries have imposed special flight schedules. And their resumption will be done gradually and with bilateral agreement. In vain will Romania allow some flights to be operated if the destination countries do not approve. This is to understand how things have been all this time and how they will be in the near future.

Cyprus has suspended all commercial flights from March 21, 2020 until May 28, but with the possibility of extending this period. So far, only cargo planes, repatriation flights and some humanitarian flights have been authorized.

Cyprus has suspended commercial flights

The government in Nicosia hopes to have airports operating at full capacity from June 9, depending on how the COVID-19 pandemic develops internationally.

The head of the Cyprus Hoteliers' Association, Haris Loizides, told the private Sigma TV channel on Monday that, thanks to sustained efforts to limit the spread of the coronavirus, Cyprus is on the list of favorite destinations among citizens of other countries.

But the tourist season in Cyprus is uncertain as long as their main markets - Britain and Russia - are still struggling with the high number of confirmed cases of COVID-19. Cypriot authorities hope to attract more tourists from the Middle East, where countries have reported few cases of the new coronavirus.

Having said that, regular commercial flights from Romania to Cyprus still have to wait until at least 28 May 2020. But there is a repatriation flight on 17 May, which will be operated by Blue Air on the route Larnaca - Bucharest.
