CNAB carried out the reception of the modernization works of the “Delta” taxiway.

Starting today, Monday, July 13, 2020, Henri Coandă Bucharest International Airport has the “Delta” taxiway again. It has undergone an extensive modernization process, the entire road structure has been replaced and sidewalks and connections with track 1 (08R-26L) and other roads have been widened to comply with the requirements of Regulation (EC) 139/2014.

The "Delta" taxiway was put into operation

The "Delta" taxiway has a load-bearing width of 23 meters, being framed by sidewalks of 10,50 and 7,50 meters wide, respectively. After the modernization, the taxiway has PCN (Pavement Classification Number) 83, identical to that of runway 1. The beacon installation was also modernized.

As a result of the modernization, this runway can ensure the unrestricted running of category E aircraft (the Boeing 777-300 aircraft has been taken into account).

The works for the objective “Rehabilitation of the Delta taxiway with the lifting of the PCN at PDA1 level (including the Delta - Papa - Charlie intersection and widenings in the inflection areas) and the related beacon installations”, with a total value of 28 million lei (design and execution ), lasted 8 months, of which 2 months the design and were completed within the term provided in the contract.

By completing and putting into operation the "Delta" taxiway, runway 1 can be used at full capacity. At the same time, the modernization works on runway 2 (08L-26R), amounting to 127,4 million lei, works contracted in June 2019 and whose execution is to last 8 months (the technical project is already being received) can begin. During these works, all airport traffic can be taken over by runway 1.
