COBALT ceased operations on 17 October (bankruptcy)

On 17 October, at 23: 50, COBALT has ceased its activity. COBALT was a Cypriot carrier that tried to fill the vacant space of Cyprus Airways.

We come with unpleasant news for Cypriots and for those who should have flown with COBALT AIR. On October 17, at 23:50, the Cypriot air carrier ceased operations. The last flight operated was C0327, on the route London Heathrow - Larnaca. The aircraft used was Airbus A320 (5B-DCR • MSN 0928).

COBALT officials announced bankruptcy after failing to talk with potential investors. Due to the economic problems, the company was overdue on the payment of wages and leasing rates on airplanes. It started with an Airbus A320, and the fleet currently has 4 aircraft of the type Airbus A320 and 2 A319 aircraft.

Cobalt bankruptcy

In an official press release, COBALT notifies passengers of the cessation of activity and advises them not to go to Larnaca airport today. The flights will not be operated nor will there be COBALT personnel. To refund the money on tickets, COBALT recommends passengers to contact the banks or travel agencies through which the tickets have been purchased.

We remind you that the COBALT AIr carrier was founded in 2015, immediately after the bankruptcy of Cyprus Airways. It started with regular flights on 1 June 2016. It has operated flights on 17 routes between destinations: Abu Dhabi, Beirut Chania, Copenhagen, Dublin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Geneva, Heraklion, Larnaca, London-Heathrow, London-Gatwick, Madrid-Barajas, Manchester, Moscow-Sheremetyevo, Mykonos, Paphos, Tel Aviv, Thessaloniki and Zurich.
