The aircraft, with the ZS-BRV sign, took off from Pretoria-Wonderboom. Eyewitnesses reported flames to engine no. 1. The pilots tried to return to the airport, but unfortunately they failed. As a result of the impact with the ground, the flight engineer suffered fatal injuries and the rest of the people were injured. There were 16 passengers and 3 crew members on board.
