TAROM wants a fleet consisting of modern and economical aircraft

TAROM will develop its fleet using modern and economical aircraft

Reducing operating costs by using modern aircraft is one of TAROM's priorities. After completing the business strategy for the future, TAROM Company, together with the owner - the Ministry of Transport, will make a decision on the type of aircraft to be used. So far, TAROM has not made any decision regarding the future use of a particular type of aircraft.

Rumors say that TAROM would go with Airbus, and the desired aircraft type would be A320. For medium- and long-haul routes, TAROM would be reluctant to opt for A330. The information is optimistic, but we await official confirmations and rumors.

TAROM currently has a fleet of 24 aircraft:

1 - BOEING B737-800 aircraft

As you can see, the fleet consists of 7 aircraft models from 3 manufacturers. From an economic point of view, this is not advantageous for TAROM. There must be certified teams for each type of aircraft, the parts are diverse, plus maintenance equipment approved for each model separately. Some aircraft are older and fuel consumption is quite high.

A new and modern fleet would mean a great deal to the TAROM economy. It would make a considerable investment, but that can be repaid pretty quickly. In the medium and long term, TAROM would benefit and could be maintained in a dynamic and competitive market, and passengers would feel much more comfortable in the latest generation aircraft or something newer.
