Travel conditions in Luxembourg: negative COVID-19 test (PCR or antigen)

From 29 January 2021 until 28 February 2021, all persons arriving in Luxembourg exclusively by air must present a negative test for SARS-CoV-2 virus infection, printed or electronic, prior to boarding. in the Luxembourg aircraft.

Both PCR type molecular tests (performed with a maximum of 72 hours before boarding) and rapid antigen tests are accepted. This measure applies to both foreign nationals and Luxembourg nationals who have spent more than 72 hours abroad.

In addition to this measure, people arriving from non-EU countries must perform a rapid test for SARS-CoV-2 virus infection on arrival at Findel / Luxembourg Airport. The above measures do not apply to land borders.

Persons who do not present the test upon entry into Luxembourg or who refuse to take it on arrival at Luxembourg Airport will be placed in self-isolation / quarantine for a period of 14 days.    

Categories of persons exempted from the obligation to take the test for SARS-CoV-2 virus infection, provided that their stay in Luxembourg does not exceed 72 hours:

  • Persons with responsibilities in the field of transport (in the exercise of official duties);
  • Passengers in transit at Findel / Luxembourg airport;
  • Members of the diplomatic corps, staff of international organizations or persons invited by such organizations to Luxembourg on various occasions, military personnel, humanitarian personnel and protection personnel in service;
  • Persons traveling by air for less than 72 hours from the Grand Duchy to a Member State of the Schengen area or the European Union, provided that they have not left the Schengen area or the territory of the EU Member States during this period.
