Conditions for entry into Spain: presentation of a negative test for COVID-19

Starting with November 23 2020, will be introduced the obligation to present a molecular test (PCR) with a negative result for SARS-CoV-2 virus infection upon entry into Spain, by all persons arriving from areas or states at high epidemiological risk. 

The test must be carried out no later than 72 hours before entering Spanish territory.

According to the list in force at the moment (annex 2 of the document), Romania is among the states that will be targeted by the measure on the obligation to present a molecular test (PCR) with a negative result for SARS-CoV-2 virus infection.

The list of areas / states with a high epidemiological risk will be updated by the Spanish authorities every 15 days and published on website of the Spanish Ministry of Health 7 days before the entry into force, in order to allow passengers to be informed in advance.

At the same time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reminds that All persons traveling to the Kingdom of Spain must complete, before making the journey, a health form using the Spain Travel Health (SpTH) application or the website www.spth.gob.es.

After completing the form, a unique QR health code will be generated which will have to be presented (digitally or on paper) at the health check performed at the destination airport / border checkpoints. Given the new conditions, the form will include an additional section on the PCR test result for COVID-19.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that, on arrival in the Kingdom of Spain, the Spanish authorities may require passengers to provide proof of the original PCR test (in digital or paper format), a document which must be written in Spanish or English, including the name and surname of the traveler. , the data of the national identity document or of the passport with which he will be identified, the date of the test, the data of the medical unit that performed the test and the negative result of the test.
