Starting March 13, 2020, Kuwait International Airport will be closed to passenger traffic. And collateral victims, Kuwait Airways and Jazeera Airways.

Most countries around the globe have begun to take different measures in the fight with the new Coronavirus. The situation seems to be out of control, and Europe has become the second largest COVID-19 outbreak after China.

Kuwait International Airport will be closed

Kuwait is taking radical action to curb mass migration, in the hope that it will reduce the level of infection of the population with the new Coronavirus. Thus, from March 13, 2020, the airport in Kuwait will be closed to passenger traffic, without a deadline.

This decision will also affect the national airline - Kuwait Airways, which has announced that it is canceling all flights. The problem is that there is no set date for the opening of air traffic. Kuwait International Airport normally receives over 500 flights a day. In 2019, the airport was transited by over 16 million passengers.

As far as I know, Kuwait is the only country with such a draconian decision to stop all commercial passenger flights. There are merchandise and charters exceptions. The country also announced that all shopping malls, restaurants and cafes will be closed by the end of the month.
