The COVID-19 pandemic is following its sinusoidal course and making new victims globally. While some countries are announcing relaxations, others are "barricading" to prevent the alarming rise of new cases. Unfortunately, Romania has exceeded the threshold of 15 new cases per day. Below you have some of the most important information about COVID-19:

  • The European Union Medicines Agency has approved booster doses of Pfizer-BioNTech for all people 18 years of age and older. The European Medicines Agency (EMA) in Amsterdam said that data on the third dose showed an increase in the level of antibodies when given at about six months after the second dose in people aged 18 to 55 years. 
  • Russia has suspended public gatherings of more than 3.000 participants to prevent the rise of COVID-19 infections. according to a Kremlin official. Assemblies would be allowed only in accordance with regulations issued by Russia's chief medical officer, said the head of consumer rights and the country's welfare guardian. Daily cases have risen to the highest level this year. The Kremlin has urged people to get vaccinated against COVID-19, the only way to stop the virus from spreading. 
  • The regions of Bavaria and Berlin in Germany have relaxed health regulations on school masks. Anja Karliczek, the federal Minister of Education, told the newspaper Rheinische Post: "Wearing masks interferes with normal teaching and is stressful for students." 

Portugal to administer a third dose of coronavirus vaccine to people aged 65 and over, starting with next week. Portugal currently has the highest vaccination rate in the world, with 85% of the eligible population being fully vaccinated. 

  • Latvian doctors have called on the government to call for swift and strict measures to prevent a recurrence of the pandemic. The Latvian Medical Association and the Latvian Medical Association said in a statement that the national health system is struggling to cope with the large number of coronavirus patients. 
  • The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has warned against travel to a list of countries, including Austria, Croatia, Latvia, France, Iceland and Portugal. This is happening in the context in which the US has announced that it will relax travel conditions between the US and Europe.
  • A study conducted in Italy found evidence of the new coronavirus as early as September 2019, with five months before the country's first official clinical diagnosis. Researchers at the University of Milan retested samples from patients with "measles-like" symptoms and found ribonucleic acid (RNA) from the virus in a patient dating back to that month. 
  • On Monday, Ireland reported 892 new cases of COVID-19, falling below 1 cases for the first time since mid-July, according to the Irish Department of Health.

To date, 236 cases of the new coronavirus have been reported globally, of which 624 people have lost the fight against the virus, while 144 people have been declared cured. In reality, the actual number of cases with COVID-4 may be much higher, as may the number of people who die from coronavirus influenza!
