Romania started the covid vaccination campaign on December 27, 2020. So far, according to the National Coordinating Committee for Activities on Covid-19 Vaccination (CNCAV), over 3 million people have been vaccinated, of which about 1.8 million of people received both doses.

An average of 75 people are reported daily vaccinated nationwide, but there have been more than 000 days. However, 90 months after the start of the vaccination campaign, the number of people wanting to be immunized by the vaccine has begun to decline. Maybe because some have been influenced by false news about vaccines, others may be scared of some more severe reactions, and all this time the authorities have reported poorly.

Covid vaccination marathons

For several days, Romania has had more doses of vaccine than the number of people on waiting lists and scheduled for vaccination. Under these conditions, local and regional authorities began to organize marathons of vaccination against covid, without programming, only with the bulletin.

The first vaccination marathon took place in Timisoara, and after that over 6700 people were inoculated. The vaccination was done without programming, and the vaccine administered was the one produced by Pfizer. The vaccination marathon started on Friday afternoon at the Timișoara Regional Business Center and ended on Monday morning.

Another vaccination marathon is announced in Bucharest, between May 7, 8 and 9. The administrative vaccine will be the one produced by Pfizer. The president of the Coordinating Committee of the vaccination campaign against SARS-CoV-2, Valeriu Gheorghiţă, declared that there will be two locations: the Palace Hall and the National Library. There are 50 flows planned, 50 vaccination offices, which would mean about 15 people vaccinated in the 000 days of the marathon. Other marathons will be organized between May 14-16 in Cluj-Napoca, Iași, Tîrgu Mureș.

It is not excluded that other cities organize such marathons for vaccination. Romania will receive over 12 million doses of vaccines in May and June. The sooner the national immunization threshold of 70% is reached, the sooner the restrictive measures will be relaxed and we will be able to hope for a "normal" life.

Vaccination in the family doctors' offices with the Janssen vaccine produced by Johnson & Johnson begins on May 4.

Doses allocated to Romania in May:

  • 3.882.060, Pfizer;
  • 1.047.962, AstraZeneca;
  • 518.000, Johnson & Johnson;
  • 513.600, Modern;

centers DRIVE-THROUGH

In addition to marathons, the centers also appeared DRIVE-THROUGH. Such a center opened in Cluj, starting with April 26, after the one in Deva. The type of vaccine given is Pfizer-BioNTech. No appointment is required for vaccination in the RoVaccination Platform, the immunization being done directly in the machine. From April 29, a drive-thru will open in Bucharest.

Vaccination centers DRIVE-THROUGH are specially arranged in the third stage of the vaccination process, addressed to the general population. The organization and arrangement of drive-through vaccination centers will be done in compliance with all safety and hygiene rules. These will be organized in large urban agglomerations, in areas that allow access to people with their own vehicles.

It is to be appreciated that more and more foreigners choose to come to Romania to be vaccinated without an appointment. Countries such as Italy or Spain are behind Romania with the vaccination stages.

If you have been vaccinated with both doses, according to the vaccine leaflet, and at least 10 days (14 days) have passed since the booster, see where you can travel without restrictions.
