The National Airports Company of Bucharest recorded, in June 2014, a record air traffic of 800.993 of passengers, increasing by almost 11% compared to the same period of last year. The number of aircraft movements increased by over 10% compared to June 2013, reaching 9.558 landings and take-offs.
The two airports of the Capital - Henri Coandă Bucharest International Airport and Bucharest Băneasa-Aurel Vlaicu International Airport - registered an air traffic of 3.745.836 passengers and 47.943 aircraft movements, in the first six months of this year.
The number of passengers who crossed the two airports in Bucharest in the first semester of 2014 registered an increase of almost 7% compared to the same period last year, thus creating the premises of reaching the threshold of 8 million passengers throughout the year 2014.
The evolution of the number of passengers on the two airports of the National Company Bucharest Airports exceeds the general tendency registered at European level. In addition, the number of aircraft movements has registered a marked increase in the capital's airports, and the European trend is also ahead. Thus, in the first half of the year 2014, the number of aircraft movements at the airports in Bucharest increased by almost 4% more than the same period last year.
At Henri Coandă Bucharest International Airport, 37 currently operates airlines, which transports passengers to 87 from destinations. In the year 2013, two new airlines began operating on AIHCB: easyJet Air and Air Serbia, and from 2014, Ryanair and Air Baltic operated the first regular flights to Henri Coanda Airport.
