De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited ("De Havilland Canada") reaffirmed its long-term commitment to the global Dash 8 community of operators.

While the pandemic has devastated the global airline industry, De Havilland Canada is making future-oriented investments in its organization, systems and infrastructure to improve the Dash 8 platform for current and future aircraft operators.

New investments in the Dash 8 platform.

De Havilland Canada will introduce enhancements that will provide a leading position for Dash 8 aircraft in regional aviation markets around the world:

  • Invest significant capital in the customer support team, distribution network and information technology to reduce the operating costs of the Dash 8 platform.
  • Development of upgrades and changes to Dash 8, including packages that create the best freight carrier with unmatched operating and financial attributes.
  • Introducing cabin renovation features to improve the cost-effectiveness of Dash 8
  • Actively innovating the entire aircraft platform, including product enhancements that will reduce operating and ownership costs and help prepare Dash 8 fleets for greater durability.
  • De Havilland Canada continues to provide assistance to its customers 24/7 throughout the year.

Aircraft production break.

Given that current circumstances have hampered the ability to confirm sales of new aircraft, De Havilland Canada will not produce new Dash 8-400 aircraft at the Downsview base. Only already confirmed orders will be produced.

This is a responsible and prudent measure that reflects the current conditions of the industry and will limit the existing tension in the market and in the supply base of De Havilland Canada. Approximately 500 employees will be affected by this production break.

De Havilland Canada's goal is to resume the delivery of new aircraft as soon as possible, depending on market demand.
