All domestic flights from Nigeria have been suspended indefinitely. This decision of the airlines is related to the increase in kerosene prices which makes domestic flights unprofitable. Nigeria is the first country to have ground planes due to fuel prices.

The war in Ukraine has led to a sharp rise in oil market prices. The cost of fuel for aircraft has almost quadrupled this year, which has been unsustainable, said Nigerian Air Operators (AON), which represents Nigeria's nine domestic carriers.

Many airlines were already operating at a loss because the increases could not be fully passed on to passengers. Despite being the largest oil producer in Africa, Nigeria imports almost all aircraft fuel.
