Two aircraft burned while parked in different hangars and on consecutive days, one in Prague and one in Antigua, the Caribbean area. An incident happened Saturday and one Sunday. Damages are significant!

In Prague, in hangar F at Prague Ruzyne airport, burned an ATR 42-500 that belonged to the airline Czech Airlines and was registered OK-KFM. Only a pile of charred beasts remained after the fire. Research is still underway into the cause of the fire. After initial analysis, it appears the fuel caught fire and then an explosion ensued. Three people were injured, one of whom needed more detailed medical investigations. As a result of the fire, a second plane was damaged - OK-JFK, also an ATR 3-42. The damage was estimated at EUR 500 million.

A second plane burned down at St. John's Airport on Sunday night. John'S, Antigua. Air operator LIAT said it suffered significant losses - a hangar, two offices and documents, but also a Dash 8-300 aircraft. The causes of the fire have not yet been determined. The LIAT operator operates without problems to the 21 destinations it operates in the Caribbean.
