Two aircraft burned in different hangars and on consecutive days
Two aircraft burned while parked in different hangars and on consecutive days, one in Prague and one in Antigua, the Caribbean area. An incident happened Saturday and one Sunday. Damages are significant!
In Prague, in hangar F at Prague Ruzyne airport, burned an ATR 42-500 that belonged to the airline Czech Airlines and he was registered OK-KFM. After the fire there was only a pile of charred beasts. There is still research into the cause of the fire. After the first analysis, it appears that the fuel burned and then an explosion followed. Wounded 3 were registered, one in need of more thorough medical investigations. Following the fire, a second plane was damaged - OK-JFK, also an ATR 42-500. The damages were estimated at EUR 300 million.
A second plane took off on Sunday evening at the airport in St. John's, Antigua. The airline LIAT said it suffered major losses - a hangar, two offices and documents, but also a Dash 8-300 aircraft. The causes that led to the fire have not yet been established. The LIAT operator carries out its activity without problems to the 21 of destinations, which they operate, from the Caribbean.
