The Brazilian aircraft manufacturer - Embraer - presented the first images with the new turboprop, a competitor for the ATR and De Havilland Canada aircraft.
According to statements made by an Embraer official, the new aircraft will be able to carry between 80 and 100 passengers, depending on the configuration. It will have an interior similar to E-Jet aircraft. And the entry into operational service could be achieved only in 2027.
Embraer is not the first turboprop, in the portfolio with the EMB-120 model. And according to the images presented, the new turboprop could have engines above the wings.
Rodrigo Silva e Souza also stressed that Embraer intends to attract business partners and not just suppliers for this new project.
Embraer has just announced quarterly financial results, which are disappointing due to the COVID-19 pandemic. President Embraer spoke in June about a 5-year strategic plan that will focus on profitability and growth with China and India as potential partners. It is not excluded that a partnership will be established with Russia.
