Emergency missions of the Romanian Air Force for the repatriation of Romanian citizens from Afghanistan
A C-130 Hercules aircraft of the Romanian Air Force took off today, August 17, to carry out an emergency mission aimed at evacuating Romanian citizens from Afghanistan.
On board the aircraft is, for protection, a team of Special Operations Forces from the Romanian Army.
Also, a C-27 J Spartan plane is ready to take off for the repatriation of Romanian citizens evacuated from Afghanistan to other locations with NATO aircraft.
The mission is being carried out at the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, following the deteriorating security situation in Afghanistan.
The Ministry of National Defense is in constant contact with the other structures responsible for managing this crisis so that the evacuation, protection and transport of people can take place safely.
