On 16 January 2014, Emirates launched daily flights on the route Dubai - Kiev, this being the first destination in Ukraine. The flights are operated with Airbus A340-500 aircraft configured in 3 classes: 12 seats in First Class, 42 seats in Business Class and 204 seats in Economy Class.

After 6 months, Emirates has decided to stop bookings on this route and it looks like it will abandon it from 2 August to 2014. Initially, Emirates plans looked different. He wanted to honor the route with 4 weekly flights and replace the aircraft A340-500 with A330-200, from 26 to October 2014. And from 2 December to 2014, it was planning to switch to Airbus A340-300.

According to airlineroute.net, Emirates will operate the Dubai - Kiev route according to the following schedule, until August 2:

EK171 DXB 17:20 - 21:30 KBP 345 x135 - on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays
EK172 KBP 23:05 - 04:55 + 1 DXB 345 x135 - on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays

Considering that route Dubai - Kiev Zhulyany will move into the portfolio FlyDubai, a low-cost subsidiary of Emirates, makes me think that it is not a destination to be neglected. But it also makes me think of the idea speculated in the press - Emirates in Bucharest.

Currently, FlyDubai is flying to Bucharest, and some voices say that the low-cost operator will leave the Romanian market to leave room for the Emirates operator. May this be the lucky rock and see Emirates in Bucharest until the end of 2014? I remain skeptical, but surprises can occur at any time.
