Estonian Air has ceased operations / Nordic Aviation Group takes over routes and passengers

Estonian Air, the airline based in Tallinn, Estonia, announced that it is ceasing all activity after the EU decided that it received illegal state aid. The decision was taken today, 7 November, following the statement made by Margrethe Vestager, the EU antitrust commissioner. The airline must return to the Estonian state the sum of 85 million (92.1 million).

Those with airline tickets purchased at Estonian Air can opt for a refund or be withdrawn. At the same time, Nordic Aviation Group has stated that it will take Estonian Air passengers and will operate to 8 destinations from November 8: Amsterdam, Brussels, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Oslo, Kiev, Trondheim and Vilnius.

Nordic Aviation Group, the new airline owned by the Estonian state, does not have its own fleet or personnel, but collaborates with several airline operators in Europe, such as: BMI, Trade Air, NextJet and Carpatair. Adria Airways offers flight certificate, trading platform and ticketing system.

Below is the operational program offered by Nordic Aviation Group:

- Twice a day to Amsterdam (except on Saturdays when the evening flight is not operated),
- Twice a day to Brussels (except Thursdays, Fridays and Saturday and Sunday mornings)
- 3 times a day to Copenhagen (except for Saturday evening and Sunday morning flights),
- 4 times a day to Stockholm (3 times on Fridays and twice on Saturdays and Sundays),
- Twice a day to Oslo (except Saturday),
- 5 times a week to Kiev (except Tuesdays and Saturdays from 9 November),
- Twice a week to Trondheim (on Fridays and Sundays),
- Twice a day to Vilnius (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday).

There are plans to open the Tallinn - Munich route with flights operated on Saturdays. The route would be open on December 19 and valid until the end of March 2016.

Nordic Aviation Group was founded at 25 September 2015. The board members are Jaan Tamm, Ahto Pärl and Erik Sakkov. The Supervisory Board consists of Peeter Tohver, Katrin Rasmann, Toomas Haidak and Toomas Uibo.
