Ethiopian Airlines has ordered 20 from 737 MAX 8 aircraft

On September 20, Ethiopian Airlines ordered 20 MAX 737 aircraft. The order amounts to $ 8 billion according to the list price and also includes purchase rights for another 2.1 units. The order placed by Ethiopian Airlines is the largest ever by an African operator to Boeing.

The new Boeing 737 MAX is based on the current 737 Next Generation, but comes equipped with a new, much more efficient and reliable engine, being based on new technologies. The US manufacturer promises a reduction of the operational cost by 8% to 737 MAX equipped with CFM International LEAP-1B compared to the competing models. The Boeing 737 MAX family has gathered orders for 2294 units from 47 customers worldwide.
