Etiophia National Airline, Ethiopian Airlines intends to resume operations with Boeing 737 MAX aircraft starting July 2021.
On 10 March 2019, Ethiopian Airlines detained a fleet of Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft due to a plane crash involving a 737 MAX. After about 2 years, the CEO of the Ethiopian company decided to continue operations with the modern 737 MAX.
CEO Ethiopian AirlinesTewolde Gebremariam has repeatedly stated that Ethiopian Airlines will be the last to resume operations with the Boeing 737 MAX. Ethiopia's national airline currently has four Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft in its fleet, which were stored at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport (ADD).
We remind you that Boeing 737 MAX aircraft were detained on the ground in March 2019 following the crash of a 737 MAX Lion Air plane near Jakarta, on October 29, 2018, and a 737 MAX Ethiopian Airlines plane, on March 10, 2019, killing a total of 346 of people.
European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), Transport Canada (TC), the National Civil Aviation Agency of Brazil (ANAC), the British Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) also recertified the Boeing 737 MAX, allowing it to resume commercial service.
Since the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft could be returned to operational service in December 2020, more than 1.025 flights have been operated safely by airlines around the world.
