Etihad Airways, the national company of the United Arab Emirates, has inaugurated the new European headquarters in Berlin. It is located in the historical center of Potsdamer Platz, in the German capital.
It is no surprise that Etihad Airways chose Berlin for a European headquarters, knowing that it had bought a package of 29% from Air Berlin in 2011. The new headquarters will be the marketing and sales teams of the Etihad Airways operator and the booking and ticket sales teams of the Etihad Airways and Air Berlin partners. 35 of Etihad Airways employees will work in the new building, 25 being German, and the remaining 10 being from the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands, Egypt, India, Italy, Pakistan, Morocco, the United Kingdom and Switzerland.
With the opening of its Berlin office, Etihad Airways wants to further strengthen its strategic relationship with Air Berlin, as well as strengthen its services on the German market. According to Etihad Airways, the most popular destinations for German travelers have continued to be Abu Dhabi, Bangkok, Sydney, Melbourne, Shanghai and Kuala Lumpur.
