Etihad Airways, one of the largest airlines in the UAE, has reached the target of 10 million passengers transported to 2012. Specifically, the Arab operator has carried on its own routes and in the 10290000 passenger codehare partnerships, with 1.88 millions more than 2011.

The number of passengers carried by Etihad Airways has also increased due to partnerships with airberlin, Virgin Australia, Aer Lingus and Air Seychelles. In 2012, together they carried about 74 million passengers. The 22 new destinations added last year - Tripoli, Shanghai, Nairobi, Basra, Lagos and Ahmedabad - also contributed to the increase of about 6%.

For Etihad Airways, the busiest route was to Bangkok, in 2012 managing to transport up to 691000 passengers. The busiest day in 2012 was 14 July, the Saturday when Etihad transported 33766 passengers.

And Etihad doesn't stop there. New targets have been set for 2013. It will take possession of 14 new aircraft (4 Airbus A320, one Airbus A321, one Airbus A330 freighter, 6 Boeing 777-300ER and 2 Boeing 777 freighter aircraft) and will open at least 3 routes new: Washington DC - March, Sao Paulo - June and Ho Chi Minh City - October.
