EUROCONTROL: Passenger air traffic in Europe has reached 81% of the pre-pandemic level!

The European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation, Eurocontrol, said in its latest report that the number of flights to Europe continued to rise last week. According to the latest comprehensive air traffic assessment, traffic on the European network recorded an average of 24.648 flights per day between April 7 and April 13.

This means that the number of flights during this period increased by 5% compared to the previous week and, at the same time, reached 81% compared to 2019.

"An average of 24.648 daily flights in the last week, up 5% from the previous week; 81% compared to 2019. Traffic according to the new EUROCONTROL traffic scenarios (April 6, 2022): 79% for April so far compared to 2019 ”, is shown in the Eurocontrol communiqué.

The top five airlines between April 7 and April 13 are: Ryanair (2765 daily flights), EasyJet (1515 daily flights), Lufthansa (1138 daily flights), Turkish Airlines (1096 daily flights) and Air France (901 daily flights).

According to figures presented by EUROCONTROL, RYANAIR has increased by 10% compared to 2019, while Air France is at a level 30% lower than the same period in 2019.

At the country level, the UK recorded the highest number of daily landings and take-offs (4815) between April 7-13. In second place is Spain with 4504 aircraft movements, and in third place is Germany with 4432 aircraft movements.
