The EU's statistics provider - EUROSTAT - has revealed that Romanian citizens are the most mobile EU citizens, which means they travel the most to other EU member states for work reasons.

According to Eurostat, approximately one-fifth or 18,6% of working Romanians live in one of the Member States, outside Romania, making it the nation with the highest mobility in the EU.

Other national groups traveling to the EU for work are: Bulgarians - 10,3%, Portuguese (10,6%) and Croats (17,6%).

At the other end of the list are Germany and Sweden, both of which account for less than 1% of the state's residents. It turns out that Germans and Swedes do not prefer to move for professional reasons as much as other EU citizens.

According to EUROSTAT, 2.3 million able-bodied people between the ages of 20 and 64 have left Romania for work. More than 1 million people left Italy and Poland, while only 679 migrated from Portugal. In general, data from the last decade show that Romanians have remained the most mobile nation in the EU.
