Immediately following the decision of the German Center for Disease Control, Robert Koch Institute, to remove Palma de Mallorca and other areas of Spain and Portugal from the list of risk areas, the airline Eurowings has recorded an unprecedented number of reservations.

Eurowings has added an additional 300 flights for the Easter holiday season to meet customer demand. Last week, the Lufthansa subsidiary had to use larger aircraft for flights to Palma de Mallorca for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic.

Flights can already be booked, and the first additional flights will be on March 18. The same problem affected the airports of Düsseldorf, Cologne / Bonn, Hamburg and Stuttgart. Eurowings has reported a sharp increase in bookings since March 12.

All flights from Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Stuttgart and Cologne / Bonn to Mallorca were fully booked in a few hours.

Eurowings is by far the largest travel provider between Palma de Mallorca and Germany - flights are also known as "Palma Shuttle". The Lufthansa Group will connect Mallorca with 24 airports in Germany, Austria and Switzerland in the summer season 2021.

The decrease in the number of infections in Spain, which recorded a cumulative incidence of 21.3 cases per 100.000 inhabitants in the last 7 days, led the German government to remove Spain on the list of countries with a high epidemiological risk. However, those who have to travel to Germany will have to take a negative Covid-19 test, which should not be older than 5 days.

Eurowings enters the British tourism market in response to rising demand for flights between the UK and Mallorca. The German leisure airline, which has an international base in Mallorca, will connect Manchester and Birmingham with the most popular Mediterranean island in Europe, starting with the end of May.

This summer, the airlines of Lufthansa Group will offer the widest range of holiday destinations in recent years, thus demonstrating the company's knowledge of the leisure travel market.
