The VietJet Air expansion has been blocked by the Vietnamese authorities

On 25 December 2018, Vietnamese authorities decided to block the expansion for VietJet Air. Low-cost carrier aircraft have been involved in several incidents at various airports in Vietnam.

CAAV (Vietnam Civil Aviation Authority) has decided to block VietJet Air expansion for a month, during which time the low-cost carrier is not allowed to open new routes or increase existing frequencies.

The decision comes after a series of incidents involving VietJet Air aircraft.

The operations of the low-cost carrier are subject to checks at 4 airports in Vietnam: Hanoi-Noi Bai, Ho Chi Minh City-Tan Son Nhat, Da Nang and Cam Ranh.

Nikkei Dinh Viet Thang, CAAV director, said several VietJet Air officials should be suspended because recent incidents have endangered passengers.

VietJet Air officials defend themselves and blame the software installed on airplanes. which led to false alarms. At the same time, it is mentioned that they work with the authorities to resolve each incident separately.
