The pilots announced on the ground and 2 Royal Air Force (RAF) Typhoon aircraft, launched from the RAF Coningsby base, escorted the Airbus A320 aircraft (registered OE-LMB) until landing. According to one of the passengers, after landing, the aircraft was towed to a secluded part of the airport, before counter-terrorism officers surrounded it.
Police arrested two men, a 2-year-old man from Kuwait and a 34-year-old man from Italy, on suspicion of a potential terrorist act. Two suspicious objects were also removed from the aircraft along with the suspects. Local police are investigating the incident. No injuries were reported.
