On June 19, Cathay Pacific became the second carrier in the world with Airbus A350-1000 in the fleet. The air carrier, headquartered in Hong Kong, received the aircraft at an event in Toulouse, France.
This is the first A350-1000 Cathay Pacific in an 20 order of aircraft of this type. It will join the A350 XWB aircraft fleet, which consists of 22 of A350-900 units. Both models are dedicated to long and very long flights.

Passengers, who will fly aboard the new A350-1000, will benefit from increased comfort in the cabin, with more legroom. Temperature, humidity and air quality can be controlled. And for a relaxing flight, Cathay Pacific equipped the aircraft with a state-of-the-art entertainment system.
The Airbus A350-1000 Cathay Pacific is configured in 3 classes and can carry up to 334 passengers: 46 seats in Business Class; 32 places in Premium Economy and 256 places in Economy. Cathay Pacific will introduce this aircraft on the route Hong Kong - Washington DC, from September 2018, representing the longest operated flight in Hong Kong. Its duration will be about 17 hours.
The A350-1000 is the largest member of the A350XWB family, of which A350-900 is also a member. Besides having a longer fuselage and can carry a larger number of passengers compared to A350-900, A350-1000 has modified wings, and the main landing gear has 3 axles (6 wheels). Power is provided by the Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines.
With its extra capacity, the A350-1000 model is perfectly suited for the most crowded long-haul routes. To date, 11 customers on 5 continents have ordered a total of 168 of A350-1000 aircraft.
