Hong Kong authorities said they had been discovered 46 new COVID-19 cases in town. Many of the new, asymptomatic cases came from Pakistan on an Emirates flight via Dubai.

30 new cases were identified on June 20, while another 16 people were confirmed with the new coronavirus on June 21. Documents issued by the city's Health Protection Center (CHP) show that on June 20 and June 21, several people with the virus were identified as coming from Pakistan.

Cases of COVID-19 on an Emirates flight

Authorities said 29 cases reached Hong Kong via Dubai via EK380 Emirates, the South China Morning Post reported.

Flightradar24.com confirms that the Emirates Boeing 777-300ER (A6-EQD) aircraft operated EK380 flights on the Dubai - Hong Kong route on June 20 and June 21, 2020. Emirates resumed flights to Hong Kong International Airport ( HKG) on June 16, after a break of about 2 weeks

All arrivals from high-risk areas, including Pakistan, are sent to Hong Kong's 14-day quarantine centers.

And this case is not unique. In early June, 12 positive cases were reported on a Qatar Airways flight operated from Doha International Airport (DOH) to Athens Eleftherios Venizelos Airport (ATH) in Greece. We are also talking about Pakistani citizens who have chosen to travel to Athens via Doha. Greek authorities have suspended flights from Qatar to Greece for two weeks.

In both cases, we mention that they were not infected on the plane, but it seems that the filters from Doha or Dubai airports failed to detect the citizens carrying the new coronavirus.
