Flights between Cuba and the United States will resume on 31 August 2016
On 31 August 2016, after better than 50 break years, commercial flights between Cuba and the United States will resume. The Government of Havana confirms the opening of trade routes between the US and Cuba cities.
Flights from Cuba to the USA
The first flight will be operated by the low-cost carrier JetBlue Airways, which will bind Fort Lauderdale – Hollywood of Santa Clara. 3 weekly flights will be operated on this route, between August 31 and October 29, 2016. Following that from the winter season 2016/2017 to be operated daily flights.
Beginning in September, other airlines (American Airlines, Frontier Airlines, Silver Airways, Southwest Airlines and Sun Country Airlines) will open routes between American and Cuban cities.
The 2 governments have also decided to operate 20 daily flights to Havana. But the final approval of the US Department of Transportation has not yet been given. The large number of airlines eager to fly to Havana has delayed the approval process.
