From March 27, commercial aviation moves to the 2016 summer schedule! Over 45 of new routes announced from and to destinations in Romania

This weekend, exactly starting with March 27 2016, civil aviation goes to 2016 summer schedule. It will be valid until the last Sunday in October, when the aviation will switch to the winter schedule 2016 - 2017.

The 2016 summer schedule comes with a lot of news. Airlines are stepping up their operations on existing routes or starting flights to new destinations. The operational programs for the summer period were established by the airlines, and we have made every effort to inform you in advance about them.

If we refer to Romania, Blue Air has the most ambitious expansion plan for the summer of 2016, but Wizz Air is not even worse. Both companies introduced new routes and announced frequency increases on many other routes already operational.




New flights and routes from Bucharest

"Henri Coandă" Otopeni - Bucharest International Airport is enjoying a rising start to the year. If in 2015, the airport was transited by 9.274.629 passengers, for 2016 the forecasts are optimistic and we hope to exceed the threshold of 10 million passengers. If we take a look at the new routes already announced from / to Bucharest, the goal would not be difficult to achieve.

Starting with 27 March 2016, Ryanair will start operating flights on the route Bucharest - Athens.

As of March XIV, Blue Air will open 2 new routes (Bucharest - Hamburg and Bucharest - Birmingham), with 6 more destinations to be added to the network starting with June 2016. From June 3, Blue Air will enter the second route in Romania: Bucharest - Cluj. And we remind you that, starting with June 4, Blue Air will fly to Lyon, in time for EURO 2016.

For the 2016 summer season, Wizz Air has announced a number of new 4 routes: Bucharest - Cluj from July 22, Bucharest - Budapest, Bucharest - Birmingham and Bucharest - Lisbon. The route Bucharest - Hamburg was also announced, but in the meantime it disappeared from the reservation system.

TAROM, the national air carrier of Romania, only announced 2 new routes for the 2016 summer season: Bucharest - Hamburg and Bucharest - Alicante.

A busy year is announced for the airport in Bucharest!




New flights and routes from IASI

Starting with March 27, Blue Air will inaugurate the IAŞI - Barcelona route, and from March 30 it will fly on the IAŞI - Brussels route. From June 3, Blue Air will also inaugurate the IAŞI - KOLN route. More details about Blue Air base from IAI. Towards the end of the summer season, specifically from October 1, 2016, Blue Air will inaugurate the domestic route IAŞI - CLUJ - TIMIŞOARA.

Starting with 1 July 2016, Wizz Air will open 6 base in Romania, 26 from the network, at Iasi International Airport. An aircraft of the type Airbus A320 will be allocated, which will also facilitate the opening of new routes. If at present, Wizz Air operates flights to 3 destinations (London, Milan, Venice), from July 2016 will be added other new 5 routes: Bologna (BLQ), Larnaca (LCA), Rome Ciampino (CIA), Tel Aviv (TLV ), Catania (CTA).

It is not excluded to see other new routes!




New flights and routes from Cluj-Napoca

The start of the news in the summer season is given by LOT Polish Airlines, which will inaugurate route Warsaw - Cluj starting with March 30.

Wizz Air wins expansion battle in Cluj, announcing 5 aircraft for the base in Cluj and 6 new routes. From July 22, 2016, Wizz Air will be the 3rd air operator on the route Bucharest - Cluj-Napoca, after Blue Air and the veteran TAROM.

Blue Air is not based in Cluj, not yet, but has announced flights to Dublin, Liverpool, Bucharest, Iasi and Timisoara. More details about Blue Air flights from Cluj.

For the other airports in the country, the 2016 summer season does not bring much news on regular routes. Routes are expected in Bacău Bacau - Madrid (March 28) and Bacau - Stuttgart (June 2). The Constanta - Athens route is expected in Constanta, which will start on June 1. The Sibiu - Cologne route is expected in Sibiu, which will start on March 28.

Arad Airport has a promise of domestic and international flights, but we refrain from commenting until we have all the operational data.
