The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rafila, stated that it is possible that at the end of March we will return to normal and thus there will be no need to extend the state of alert. However, Alexandru Rafila says that ten difficult days will follow in Romania, with over 50.000 new cases of COVID.

"I think we'll be back to normal by the end of March. Normal means that the alert state will probably not be needed. I believe that the extension of the state of alert will be limited this time and we will no longer have to take those measures that affect our economic and social life and we must prepare for this. I had many meetings with representatives of various industries: tourism, Horeca, large retailers, large investors in Romania. Everyone wants predictability, a sincere discussion that will make it possible to restart the economy and I think that by the end of March we can have very serious discussions so that people know what to do in the coming months.has ", said the Minister of Health, according to Mediafax.

Rafila wanted to mention that it is not a commitment, but a working hypothesis. Depending on how the pandemic will evolve in Romania, things may or may not materialize. At the same time, he did not rule out the possibility that new variants of COVID-19 could appear, which would force the authorities to reactivate some measures.

"If more pathogenic strains appear, it is possible. These strains will be much less transmissible, ie high transmissibility, low pathogenicity. There will be dangers for certain categories of people at risk who need to be vaccinated, hopefully the manufacturers will also adapt their vaccine to the circulating variants and we will not continue to witness the use of the same vaccine.", Also said the epidemiologist Alexandru Rafila, quoted by Digi24.ro.
