Germany has updated the list of risk areas in Romania: Iasi falls into the risk category.
Following the clarifications of September 3, 2020, regarding the modification of the entry conditions on the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs that the German authorities have updated the list of "risk areas" in Romania. of 9 September 2020.
Iasi falls into the risk category
As a result of this update, Iași County was introduced in the risk category, and Buzău, Galați and Vrancea counties were removed from the list of "risk areas". At this moment, taking into account these latest decisions of the German authorities, along with Bucharest, 11 counties in Romania are on the list of "risk areas": Argeș, Bacău, Bihor, Brăila, Brașov, Dâmbovița, Iași, Ilfov, Prahova , Vaslui, Vâlcea.
According to the information previously sent by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the counties withdrawn from the list so far are the following: Buzău (at 09.09), Galați (at 09.09), Gorj (at 02.09), Ialomița (at 20.08), Mehedinți (at 20.08), Neamț (on 02.09), Timiș (on 20.08) and Vrancea (on 09.09).
People entering the Federal Republic of Germany, coming from risk areas, are required to complete a "Landing form" Public Health Passenger Locator Form.
14-day self-isolation at the entrance to Germany
According to information publicly provided by the German authorities, all persons, regardless of their nationality, who enter the Federal Republic of Germany after being in one of the "risk areas" at any time during the last 14 days before arrival are required to carry out self-isolation. at home or in other suitable accommodation for a period of 14 days after arrival.
There are two exceptions to this obligation. The first exception applies to persons who present a negative molecular biological test for COVID-19 performed no more than 48 hours before entry into Germany, by a medical certificate translated into German or English which must be kept for at least 14 days. after entry.
The second exception applies to persons who can take the test within 72 hours of arrival in the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany, with the obligation to strictly observe self-isolation at home until the communication of the negative test result. The test can be performed free of charge directly at the airport, at the family doctor or at the local health authorities, more information can be obtained on the dedicated telephone line 116 117.
If the person concerned has specific symptoms of COVID-19, the exceptions set out above do not apply. In this case, it becomes mandatory to complete the period of self-isolation even if it presents the negative test performed no later than 48 hours before entry into the Federal Republic of Germany or if it is performed within 72 hours of entry into German territory and the result is negative.

Transit through German territory is not subject to the above-mentioned obligations. During the transit, it is necessary to avoid any close contact with other people and to observe the specific protection measures (social distance, hygiene, mask), being allowed short stops for food or fuel, but not tourist ones, visits.
In the event of non-compliance with testing obligations, compliance with the self-isolation measure or transit conditions, the German authorities may impose penalties of up to EUR 25.000.
